For about the past two weeks the front brake on my bicycle has been seriously jacked up. The clip holding the plunger from my brake lever in towards the hydraulic cylinder broke, so my front brake lever has just been hanging there at a 90 degree angle for about the past two weeks.
It's been interesting just riding with rear brake, especially ripping down some of the gnarly descents in the area. It wouldn't be quite so bad, except I just replaced my front brake pad, and my replacement rear brake pad is still in the mail. So not only have I just had rear braking power, it's been abnormally weak due to the almost complete lack of pad there.
The part for my front brake FINALLY came into the shop yesterday, and I'm going to pick my bike up sometime this afternoon. Hopefully, it will be all ready to rock!
There is one negative note to this whole repair story. Just got a voicemail on my phone saying that the part is installed and all of that, but there is some sort of issue with the brakes still feeling janky. Not quite sure what the deal is, but his closing words were "it's as good as it's going to get." That is NOT what I wanted to hear. I wanted to hear "Greg, your brakes are totally ready to rock, come pick up your bike, and we're not going to charge you anything for it!" (Only in my dreams....)
