Epic Big Bear XC Ride with Gavin Burke

I knew the ride was going to be a long one when, seeing me loading my gear in the truck, Gavin rolled up to our rental cabin and said, “oh, we’re just going to ride from here.” I assumed we’d have a ways to drive to get to the trails all the way on the other side of the lake, but it was only a couple of miles of paved pedaling until we turned off into a church parking lot and started climbing up the side of the ridge on the unmarked Don’t Shoot Me trail.
